- Technology Transfer Office (TTO)

Prekubator was established in February 2002. The company is situated in Ipark (Stavanger Innovation Park), a unique environment for technology development and business growth.

Our main objective is to facilitate successful commercialization of ideas coming from research. The company is owned by the University of Stavanger, International Research Institute of Stavanger, Norconserv, Stavanger University Hospital, Ipark and Næringsrådet i Rogaland.

We have a mandate on behalf of these institutions that  allow the researcher to take direct contact with us for evaluation of a new innovation.

The TTO has been established on behalf of the university and research institutions as a joint function. The commercial activites are closely connected to the FORNY Program of the Norwegian research council where Prekubator has been a commercial partner since 2002.

In 2003 new legislation passed by the Norwegian parliament came into effect, granting universities the right to commercially exploit intellectual property developed by their employees. This set a new national ambition of effectively bringing more innovations to market. Based on this legislation, the University of Stavanger and collaborative research institutions is committed to transferring innovative technologies, faster and more successful than before – for the benefit of the society.

Prekubators mission as Technology Transfer Office is to:

• Facilitate effective transfer of new innovations to the market
• Secure intellectual property rights 
• Generate revenues for the inventors and the research institution
• Develop and maintain strong collaboration with industry and commercial partners
• Enforce commercial awareness and motivation among researchers

We have a team of professionals who have a broad range of entrepreneurial and industry experience in our staff and collaborative network. The team also comprises IPR practitioners.

• Medical technology
• Food science
